Meet Our Judges
We are very proud to present to you our judges for SO AWC Belgium 2024
Hi everyone… It is very hard to introduce myself but I will try it a little bit. I started with agility 12 years ago with a weimaraner and then continue with a border collie. My border collie has spondylosis and I started thinking about a next breed and I fell in love with mudis. That’s where it all started … Now I can’t imagine my life without agility. I am trainer, competitor and international judge. I love being in this different positions and being able to look on agility from different sides… I prefer training independent skills, layering and motivation… for me it’s important that agility is still fun for the dogs and for people too… I like very flow courses with natural lines… For now I run with my three mudis in medium category. My biggest achievements are:
EO 2019 – Team winner
AWC 2019 Vice champion in teams, 3rd place in individual jumping
AWC 2022 – Overall 5th place with Chilli. I was qualified with all my three girls for team- and individual runs
WAO 2022 – Winner in biathlon
AWC 2023 – 2nd place in team jumping medium. I was qualified with my three mudis for team competition and with two for individual
EO 2023 – Team winner
WAO 2023 – Winner in biathlon and games, third place in pentathlon
Hello, I’m from Luxembourg, 56 years old and I’m doing Agility since 2000.
I Started judging in 2006 and I was EO judge in 2014 and Junior EO judge in 2016.
For me it’s a great honor to judge the first Senior European Open in Agility and a great pleasure to support the organizing team in Belgium.
I’m sure that I will meet a lot of long term friends at this event and that we will have a great time together and enjoy Agility together.
See you in Belgium,
Rolli
I feel extremely honoured to be judging this amazing group of handlers for the first time in agility history.
They are the pioneers in our beautiful sport and they created our playground.
For those who know me:
I still compete whenever I get the chance and still love it.
Buth I also enjoy designing unique, challenging and fun trails.
It is one of my favourite activities and I always take safety in account.
I humbly accepted the position of judge for these ” all stars” from all over the world and I hope to amaze all of you with a nice setting and a nice trail suited for all stars.
Looking forward to an amazing event!
Marleen
I am José Vandy, I am 60 years old, I come from Belgium and I have been an FCI judge since 2020. I started agility in 2009 with Sarah, my German Shepherd. For me, agility has become a consuming passion. Seeing this, in 2010, my wife gave me Joyce, my first Border. In 2012, the family expanded with the arrival of Lylou, also a Border. Instructor certificate in hand the same year, I was lucky to be able to share my passion with great people. Giving your knowledge by continuing to learn to perfect this knowledge is for me fuel for my engine. Since 2023, when I have the opportunity, I have been racing in grade 2 with RAFY, my last Border.
When designing a course, my main concern is focused on the safety and fluidity of the dog. This is why, when I draw it, I regularly question myself because it is not always easy to combine speed and agility. Judging such an event is a dream come true for me. I am therefore proud and honored to have been chosen as an FCI judge for SOAWC 2024 in my country. I hope that this challenge will be a success for you as it was for me. With a smile and good humor. Agility is fun.
Rules and regulations
SO AWC Regulations 2024
The SOAWC is an agility competition based on the FCI Agility regulations of 2023. The competition is open to all dogs, with or without pedigree.
All National Member Organizations of the FCI or National Organizations with a close relationship to the FCI are invited to participate in this event.
All competitors must be citizens of the country which they represent, or they must have their main residence there. Handlers with dual nationality can register only for one country.
All participating dogs must be licensed by their National Member Organization of the FCI or a National Organization with a close relationship to the FCI. All dogs must be 24 months or older on the day of the competition. Each handler can compete with a maximum of 4 dogs.
The competition will be held together with JO AWC. Each National Organization has the right to nominate competitors and to send the entries to the organizer by May 31st at the latest.
Team leaders of the countries will send an information email to the organizer after which they will receive a confirmation of registration and an entry form. If countries decide to have a selection process, this must be open to all dogs (with or without pedigree).
All countries participating can enter a maximum of 32 dogs, with a maximum of 8 dogs in any category. The hosting country is entitled to enter an extra team (4 dogs) in each height category. A dog may only be entered in one age classification at SO AWC.
A list of reserve dogs and handlers can be attached to the entries (a country can send 1 reserve dog per 4 dogs, in each category). The reserve may take the place of an original entry, should the original competitor have to be replaced. The reserve may also be allocated an entry in case of an available spot after the closing of entries. If countries choose to have a selection process, this must be open to all dogs (with or without pedigree).
The winners (same dog and handler) in “individual” (Small – Medium – Intermediate – Large) of the previous SO AWC may register to defend their title. These dogs will simply be added on to the number of dogs allowed for their country.
A country may exceed its quota and additional dogs beyond the maximum will go on the waiting list. After the closing date for entries the organizers may select dogs from the waiting list. Only dogs already on the waiting list will be entered by the organizer. The maximum number of entries is 700 (250 in large and 250 in intermediate).

About Rabies
Vaccination, in addition to a valid European passport, identification by microchip and the proof of a correct immunization of the dog, cat or ferret against rabies, is still mandatory to leave the country, and even enter a rabies-free Member State of the EU. The same rules apply for every dog, cat or ferret crossing Belgian borders. The validity of the vaccination is calculated according to the instructions in the leaflet of the vaccine and is registered in the European passport. For an initial or so-called primo-vaccination this period starts at the earliest 21 days after the vaccination. Re-vaccination within the validity period is effective immediately; outside the validity period re-vaccination will be considered as a primo-vaccination.
